PCNAK

Its that time of year. I need to decide weather or not I am going to PCNAK? For those who are non malus, PCNAK stands for Pentecostal Conference of North American Keralites. It takes place every 4th of July weekend. The whole concept behind this conference is to unite/gather Pentecostal Keralites(people who's heritage comes from the state of Kerala, India). The organization wants us to worship together, hear 20 messages in the course of 3 and half days and have good fellowship. But is that ever the case at these conferences?

I would love to share my own experiences/escapades from past conferences but I am not in the mood to get a lot of hate mails. Maybe in a future post. But if you want to check out a more humorous yet mostly factual take surrounding this yearly event, check out this article called The secrets of PCNAK, Vol. 1 written by indian bear. SO am I going this year? I dont know. So it all depends on how many of my lovely conference roomies are going.

These girls makes the conference a blast. They also allow me to room with them.

You can still go to a PCA church if you're Pentecostal. They just make you sit in the nursing room with the one way mirror during worship if you're not a cessationist. Sometimes they check you for tambourines too.

Iconoclasm,
Whar is PCA? Is it right for you to mock the pentecostals like that?

I'm not mocking pentis. I'm mocking Saji, but she knows it is just a friendly joke.

Sajini, what do you have against pentecostals? You were brought up as one. Be proud of your culture. You might have not said anything negative about PCNAK but I feel like I know what you would say if I ask you about PCNAK. I have been there there. I used to think PCNAK was a place to scout out potential mates, get dressed up, hang out with families and friends and have a great time. And it is done but its so much more. I see you have gone to past conferences. Did you not have a revival experience from this past conference. Did you not see the Holy Spirit move even after the meetings were over? People didnt want to leave. PCNAK has come a long way. All the complaning and jokes willl not make PCNAK or PYFA a better place. I wish everyone could see how much time and heartache goes into organizing this event. My suggestion to you sajini is to see how you can give some of your time to PCNAK and have a great learning experience about your culture.

Iconclasm-You are mocking us. What denomination do you belong to? Better yet, are you even a christian? Do you even know your roots?

I'm sorry. I do not want to cause trouble here. Feel free to delete my comments if you want cause they're not going to be taken in context.

I'm going to go look for my roots now.

Hey Icon... Its all good.. I got what u were saying.. Some of these people are a little ummm too passionate about umm where they come from...man that article just proves to be right again.. they find you as sooon as you mention anything to do with pentys.. oy vey!!!!

To Penti(dallas) and True Penti
Guys or girls.. easyyy easyyy...I can fight my own battles.. Thanks for your thoughts. I dont know how culture goes hand in hand with being a pentecostal. I know growing up it did because that was what we were all exposed to. But I hope you figured out thats not the case. Yes, I was brought up as a pentecostal but I dont agree with a lot of the doctrine. But I love my people and their mission which is also my mission. Alright, go easy on the non penty folks... grace and peace

Wow. People get so passionate about their beliefs. Which I think is great, but seriously if all we do is argue about which denomination has the "correct" doctrine aren't we all missing the point?
