Memorial day fun

On Monday, my friends and I decided to check out the nautical mile in Freeport. It wasnt crowded which was surprising considering it was memorial day weekend and we were by the water. We stopped by this place called Bracco's Clam & Oyster Bar. It was crowded there but we stuck it out for about an hour sipping on a really bad strawberry daquiri just watching other people eat live oysters(yuk!!). We then hung out by the dock and took some pictures by the speedboats pretending we owned them. We then headed to Otto's Sea Grill for a late lunch. We ordered all seafood appetizers and some fries. None of it was healthy except maybe the clams. But it tasted real good and it definitly hit the spot. We then decided to walk around and see what this place had to offer. We werent impressed. It was too touristy and it sort of reminded me of Virginia Beach. Overall, I had a great time because I went with these sweet girls. Let's do it again soon.

10 Favorite Kitchen gadgets

These cool gadgets make me a very happy girl in the kitchen. I had more than one favorite so I decided to list my top 10. What's your favorite gadget?

10.Culinary Torch ( This is fun to work with. Its a hit with the kids)
9. Herb Mill (this is great if you dotn want to use the food processor)
8.Microplane Rotary Grater (It comes in real handy when you want to grate really hard cheeses)
7.Mortar and pestle (I prefer the marble ones. The ones made out of steel tends to be heavy and the wooden ones tend to wear out fast. They have really neat looking ones in India)
6.Meat Pounder(I use this to crush garlic and other stuff too. Maybe I shouldnt but hey, it works for me. It also helps me release a little steam :))
5. Blender (Great product. I just learned that if you grind up the the skin of an orange in the blender, it takes away the smells some ingredients tend to leave behind)

4.Rice Cooker ( Anyone who is Asian and a woman will understand why this is an answer to prayers. I remember in my teens when I had to make rice the every other day the old school way. Boil the water, put rice in and then drain the water and in the process get burns on your arms. Not anymore. And then of course there are some people who really claim they can taste the difference. Whatever!!)
3.Henckels Four-Star Chef's Knife ( I use this to chop and dice anything. It's not a good idea. Oh well. Get a good knife)
2.KitchenAid Mixer (I think this is a must have especially if you like to bake, make bread or make yummy south indian dishes like my mom. It just makes things a lot easier and is worth the money)
1.Le Creuset Wide Dutch Oven (This is great if you want to cook for a lot of people and you can also put it in the oven. I really like this one)

Home away from home

Another blessed weekend!!! I love spring!! After hanging out with an alright guy from Florida(J/K) and some NYC folks, I headed out to Philly. It was so last minute. And I broke my record time driving to Philly. Considering it was saturday evening too. It took me an hour and 45 minutes from my house. It's usually 2 hours and 15 minutes. Sorry, I wanted to brag. I did hit over 90 a couple of times. :)
Some lone-time-no-see folks, good food, great sermon and awesome friends!!

My boyfriend????

As I was going through some of my sweet Sebastian's(Bas) pictures, it reminded me of an incident that happened last year. For Valentines day, Bas's mom sent me a valentine's day card from him. I didnt get to my mail till late in the night. It was the cutest card. Anyhow, my dad was acting really weird towards me that night and even asked me if there was anything important going on in my life that he needed to know about. I just ignored the whole thing and went to bed. Next day, he said that he needed to talk to me. He asked me if I had a boyfriend? I said no!!! He then proceeds to tell me he saw a card which was red and addressed to me from Sebastian. By now, I knew where he was going with this. So I decided to see how I can have some fun with my poor dad. So I told him what his name was and where I met him. I asked my dad if he would like to see the card Bas gave me. He didnt respond. I showed the card and my dad goes "He has a kid? You have relations with a guy who has a kid? He doesnt even look indian"(Imagine this being said in the thickest indian accent). Well, I decided to tell him right then and there what the real deal was before he had some kind of breakdown. He really didnt think it was funny. Now its a running joke in my house. Ok, maybe its not that funny but you just had to be there!!!

Splendid Sabbath in Philly

Sometimes I wish we had 2 days of sabbath.I headed out to Philly for sunday service. It was the end of the PCRT. Music was great(prelude was amazing) and Eric Alexander gave an great sermon on Perserverance of the Saints. This year PCRT's theme was "The Doctrines of Grace". I had to smile when I saw tulips on the platform. I wonder if they do that every year.
I ran into some old school Tenth people who happened to be in town. Good times. I even got to hang out in the art museum area with some of my favorite people. Ahh, I miss Philly!!
